KoRn Has Issues

by Divinity

KoRn hit the airwaves last September/October with a track from their upcoming album Follow the Leader. Now, more than a year later, KoRn is a a household name. Teens and adults both enjoyed their "new" sound. However, KoRn had been around since 1991. A lot of people, myself included, had never heard of them until their hit single "Got the Life" aired. If you're like me, you instantly fell in love with them (it also helped to have two friends that had been listening to them for a while). I rushed out to get their albums(KoRn, Life is Peachy, Follow the Leader). What I found on Follow the Leader were emotionally written, meaningful songs with head-banging, freaking out beats. I can honestly say that was the best $14.95 I had ever spent on a CD. Until now.

On November 15, 1999, KoRn, the famous rock band from "hotter than hell" Bakersfield, CA, released their 4th album. It was entitled Issues. Appropriatly titled, I think, because this album, like their others, deals with real life issues. Track #2 on the album, "Falling away from me", is a strong song for the band. It holds their sound from their first album, KoRn. It is full rock with a great tune that will get stuck in your head. The lyrics are emotionally attached to everyone, even the teenie-bopper people.

Beating me down, beating me, beating me, down, down, into the ground, screaming so sound...

This lyric, which I think refers to society as a whole, since society is beating down all of the individuals. All people, whether they wish to admit it or not, are all feeling the effects of a media-driven, harsh society. Everyone feels their individuality is being "beat down."
Your feelings I can't help but rape them. I'm sorry I don't feel the same. My heart inside is constantly hating. I'm sorry I just threw you away.

The lyric above is from track #4, which I'm sorry I don't know the name of since I have a mp3 copy of the album), is one of my favorite tracks. It speaks so clearly of people's own concerns with themselves, and no one else's feelings.

If you enjoyed their last album, Follow the Leader, yet you still craved their older sound, pick up Issues today.

Stone Temple Pilots Visits the Vatican

STP's album, Tiny Music...(songs from the Vatican Gift Shop) was released in 1996, still I felt it was one of those timeless albums, like Nevermind, from Nirvana. Here Goes:

In 1996, a wonderful album was released into stores. It was the last anyone would hear of from STP until 1999. The album featured some of STP's greatest songs, songs like Tumble in the Rough, Lady Picture Show, Trippin' On a Hole in a Paper Heart, and Big Bang Baby. The album's songs are what I like to call "easy" rock. They aren't head-banging inspiring, nor are they Elton John "light rock." They are simple, but fun, tunes and lyrics. It's the time of album you can throw on to relax, or write a term paper, and it's easy to sing to.

STP has always had a reputation of having good music, and it is good. If you don't have it already (even if it is 1999, but that's okay because I just got it a few months ago myself) you should invest a little moola into a good album.
